Lyla
A Slight modification of the new (and adorable) Puff Stitch Scarf, which in turn is inspired by Vickie Howell’s Urban Jungle hat. I had one skein of yarn and decided to use it up with this pattern. It wasn’t long enough to make a full scarf, but was perfect for a cowl. Added some buttons and … viola! This took me about an hour to make. Here’s my recipe!

1 skein of Stitch Nation Full O’ Sheep

Finished Measurements:
Approx. 6.5″ (17cm) tall x 22″ (56cm) long
Pattern:

Wear, share, and enjoy!

After moving and shuffling things and refinding things I have finally finished and woven in the ends of my two most recent cowl projects.

Clinton
Clinton by Berroco. Uses 8 skeins of Vintage, and I’m pretty sure you can squeeze two cowls out of the 8 skeins.

Calm Cowl
Calm Cowl, a free pattern I found on Ravelry. Knit up with 1.5 skeins of Berroco Vintage DK in Oats. Love it.

Both are on display near their respective yarns at Hill Country Weavers. Feel free to check them out!

Chantillon Cowl

Detail
The Chantillon Cowl is a pattern I made up for the Head & Shoulders pattern booklet released at Hill Country Weavers for the Hill Country Yarn Crawl this year. The booklet was a handout for yarn crawl participants; each pattern included is made to use one skein of Cascade Soft Spun, which we also gave to yarn crawlers.
The patterns are currently rolling out on Ravelry, and the booklet will eventually be for sale as an ebook on Ravelry. For now, you can queue up my pattern here:

And you can check out the rest of the patterns as they become available here.
About the name: Nothing fancy really, just a contorted version of the French word échantillon. If you look it up you may gain some insight into my design motivation.

I have a funny face.

My attempt to sew a button in the middle of something.
It requires some recajiggering (technical term) but I really like it. I thought I had that button in the middle but I clearly do not. I also have kind of a big neck I guess? So I need to move it a bit closer to the edge. But yeah, it turned out well. Easy project, quick knit, not a lot of thought so it was great for tv/movie watching.

A Noble Cowl
Get the PDF here. (English)
Finished size:
28cm/11” from cast-on to bind-off edges
Yarn:
Rowan Wool Cotton (50% Merino Wool/50% Cotton; 113m [123yd]/50g): 2 balls. Color shown: SH900.
Needle(s):
4mm(US6) 16” circular needle or dpns.
Notions:
Stitch marker (m), tapestry needle
Gauge:
22 sts/30 rows = 4”/10cm in St st.
Skill Level: Intermediate.
Note: I tend to make cowls large and droopy because I love pinning them. The stitch pattern is in groups of 15 sts, so feel free to cast on less if you want a smaller circumference cowl.
Heads up: The lace pattern goes up to 16 sts for a few rounds!
Happy knitting,
em
