Bio

Emily Kausalik is a PhD candidate in music theory at the University of Texas at Austin. Her research interests include film and television music, popular music, and 20th-century/contemporary music analysis. She earned her masters of music theory in 2008 from Bowling Green State University in Ohio, and her bachelor of arts degree in 2006 from Butler University in Indianapolis, IN. Her master’s thesis, ”A Fistful of Drama: Musical Form in the Dollars Trilogy,” was completed in June 2008, and her senior thesis “An Examination of Renaissance Stylistic Traits in Clément Janequin’s Le Chant de Oiseaux” was completed in April 2006.

Outside of her academics interests, Emily enjoys knitting, playing video games, cooking, and photography. Other interests include feminism, veganism, tumblr, and her awesome cats.
