Short Biography
Emily Kausalik is currently beginning coursework for her PhD in music theory at the University of Texas at Austin. Her research interests include film and television music, popular music, and 20th-century/contemporary music analysis. She earned her master of music in music theory in 2008 from Bowling Green State University in Ohio, and her bachelor of arts degree in 2006 from Butler University in Indianapolis, IN. Her master's thesis, A Fistful of Drama: Musical Form in the Dollars Trilogy, was finished in June of 2008, and her senior thesis "An Examination of Renaissance Stylistic Traits in Clément Janequin’s Le Chant de Oiseaux" was completed in April of 2006.
Outside of her academics interests, Emily enjoys knitting, playing video games, cooking, and photography. Other interests include feminism, veganism, underground musical cultures, electronic communications, and musical hermeneutics.
